Everyone knows about this theory that nanotyrannus might be a juvenile Tyrannosaurus rex. Honestly, I think Nanotyrannus was it's own species. I think so because of the difference between the skulls here is the T-rex skull and The Nanotyrannus skull The 1st thing I notice is the Nanotyrannus skull is somewhat narrower. Yea some juvenile dinosaurs could have a narrower head than the adults. The biggest difference I notice is the eyehole. The Nanotyannus has an oval shaped eyehole, while the T-rex has a B-iyesh, slanted, curvy eyehole. The 2nd difference I notice is the Nose hole. The Rex's nose hole is pointed more upward, while the nano has one that is more to the side. the 3rd difference is the eye shades. The nano has 1 that starts right before the eye does. the Rex barely has one above it's eye. The Nano's mouth ends more boxy in the upper jaw than the rex's And The nanotyrannus also has a longer length compared to the height of the skull than the Rex does. post your evidences and tell me what you think. Please don't fight about it though.

To be honest, I've never studied much on Nanotyrannus. I don't know if those differences you mentioned would be because it's a different species altogether or simply a juvenile? I do know that proportions and general shape of a juveniles skull changes as it grows (in most animals), but maybe there're too many differences as you say for this explaination. I will have to do some studying on this one.

I'm pretty sure the eyehole isn't supposed to change that drastically, especially when comparing the size of the nano and rex. The eye shade as well.

So you think a hole circle turns into a slated B... in probably 2 or so years.

I think that it is a juvi. A juvi of what, I don't know honestly.
When "Jane" was found, they did tests on the bones- and they found her to be only 11 years old when she died. This would leave us to think that she is a juvi.
But there are differences in the brain case, and a small back section of the skull (which its specific name escapes me right now.) The case now in jane was found smashed, so it didn't really give a difinitive answer. So honestly, that cannot be compleatly taken into account. As far as I know, no CT scans have been done on the "Cleaveland" skull. Janes, and that one are the only two in exsistance.
The other differences, I feel, can be summed up with the juvi theory. The tooth count. the shoulders. Everything seems to be in line with growth. The teeth would grow in size as it got older- thus making the too count smaller. Certain things would grow faster than others in the body- the same is true for any other animal.
The Burpee Museum of Rockford, Illinois has indeed found yet ANOTHER one, named Peaty. I actually found one of the toe bones two years ago. If a skull is found, in good condition... it could help this debate out quite a bit. Because really the only thing saying this is another animal, to ME that is, is the interesting indentation in the skull towards the back. I will try and get pics of said dent when I can, so that you all can see what I'm talking about....

I haven't been on here for awhile. I am not, but I plan on it. I have gone out with Digs with the Burpee Museum who has Jane (the only real Nanotyrannus/juvi rex skeleton out there.) Here is Jane-
