So, as inspiration for the Rex hunting thread in TLW board I wanted to discuss methods with the supposed bigger and badder carnivore starring in the second sequel. What would you do to take it down?
The way I see it, all carnivorous theropod dinosaurs walk on two legs. Crippling them helps slow them down and if such were to be succesful killing it wouldn't be as difficult though still a tad dangerous if one weren't careful. The probable reason Cooper failed in protecting the group was because he got scared quite bad by this new threat thus he couldn't utilize his rifle to aim at the legs. If an Einhorn(actually a different rifle in reality) can cut an airplane fuselage in half with one shell imagine what it would do to a Spinosaur's leg? I wouldn't use this kind of weapon to a large carnivorous beast because it's too big and clunky but would prefer something with ammunition close to the same destructive power combined with sleeker, more easily carried weapon to fire it. I imagine something like a grenade launcher that fires a long distance(good against other dinosaurs too if you had a variety of different grenades such as ones releasing gas). With a hunting rifle such as Roland's in TLW would take much more luck and skill if you only had three bullets. Distance and something to place between yourself and the target is also very important unless you want this to happen:
"Smile you son o-----crunch!"

I think a mini-gun would do wonders on any dino! Imagine what that would do to a Spino's legs! I'd actually feel quite safe carrying a mini-gun around (if it was light enough of course). If I had a good rifle with a scope, I'd want to find a good place to hide behind or a very large tree to climb so I can take shots at leisure. If it was charging at me in an open field and I just had a shot gun, maybe shooting it right in the open mouth would hurt it a lot...enough to reload again and shoot it blank point in the head/face.
